Illuminated and non-illuminated business signs
Lightboxes, backlit cabinets, lit logos and plain non-lit signs, made in our Toronto shop. We also convert older fluorescent signs to LED so they cost less to run.

The right sign for how you trade
Start with when your customers find you. If people drive past after dark, a lit sign keeps working all evening. If you are a daytime business with walk-in traffic, a well-made non-illuminated sign can look just as sharp and costs nothing to run.
We will show you both options on a photo of your building, with the cost difference, so the choice is easy.
Upgrading what you already have
Many signs around the GTA still run on fluorescent tubes. The box is often fine. Swapping the lighting for LEDs and putting on a new face can make an older sign look and run like new, and is often quicker to approve than a completely new sign.
Signs for restaurants
If you run a restaurant, our restaurant signs guide compares the sign types and explains the City's rules for A-frame signs.

Where it works
Common uses for illuminated signs
Storefronts open after dark
Restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores and anything trading in the evening.
Blade and projecting signs
Double-sided signs that stick out from the wall so people walking along the street can see them.
Daytime businesses
Offices, clinics and trades often do well with a non-illuminated sign that never needs servicing.
Compare
Which type of sign fits your storefront?
| Type | What it is | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Lightbox (cabinet sign) | A lit box with a printed or vinyl face | Lowest cost to light a large area. Faces can be swapped for a rebrand |
| Push-through letters | A routed aluminum face with acrylic letters pushed through | Only the letters glow, which looks more premium than a full lightbox |
| Channel letters | Individual lit letters | The most custom look. See channel letters |
| Non-illuminated | Painted or dimensional sign with no lights | No running costs. Can be lit later with gooseneck lamps |

Pricing
What affects the price
Every sign is made to measure, so we quote each one. These are the things that move the number most.
- Size and whether the sign is single- or double-sided
- Lightbox, push-through or individual letters
- New electrical work, or an existing feed you can reuse
- Installation height and access
- Permit requirements for your city
